Infoblox, a company that has spent decades managing DNS for enterprise networks, and GoDaddy, the domain registrar that controls roughly 80 million domain names, announced this week that they are jointly backing two complementary open standards designed to give AI agents a verifiable identity and make them discoverable across the open web. The initiatives, called DNS-AID and Agent Name Service (ANS), are both built on DNS rather than any proprietary database or centralized platform. The argument is elegant, and the timing is deliberate.

Infoblox and GoDaddy are jointly announcing two additional open standards that enable AI agents to identify, locate, and verify themselves on the open web. DNS forms the technical foundation. Both companies are calling on cloud and platform providers to join the joint standardization effort within the IETF.

For a company built on the premise that the Domain Name System is enterprise security's most powerful control point, the decision to acquire a Brazilian firm specialising in dark web monitoring, brand impersonation detection and social platform takedowns represents a meaningful shift in logic. DNS, as a security layer, catches threats when they arrive. What Infoblox is buying, in Axur, is the ability to find them while they are still being built.

“Despite heavy pushes from Apple, Google, Microsoft, CISA, and us (Sophos) encouraging stronger authentication methods, compromised credentials remain our most observed root cause in identity-related attacks last year. Attackers will take advantage of password breaches from popular sites and apps we use as consumers," Kopacko said, pointing out that attackers can easily use stolen passwords for 'spray and pray' attempts or building a dictionary of a person's password history.

Infoblox, a leader in hybrid, multi-cloud networking and preemptive security, today announced it has completed its acquisition of Axur, a global provider of AI-powered external threat discovery and digital risk protection.

“On World Password Day, updating an old password is a sensible step. But the bigger challenge is changing how we think about digital safety,” said Philip Weiner, Chief Executive Officer, APAC, bolttech. “Despite years of public awareness campaigns and security guidance from governments, banks and technology companies, poor password practices remain widespread.”

Infoblox has completed the acquisition of Axur. With this move, the DNS company is adding protection against external digital threats to its portfolio. Axur is a Brazilian company specializing in detecting and removing threats outside the network perimeter. Infoblox is launching a new service, Digital Risk Protection Services (DRPS), immediately.
