(NYSE: BLOX) today announced that the Infoblox Trinzic™ family of automated network control systems now supports Common Access Card (CAC) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) smart cards, ensuring that only approved IT professionals are authorized to access and perform changes on Infoblox systems. The two-factor authentication enabled by support for these cards is a compliance requirement for access to critical U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal government agencies’ computer systems.
Infoblox pioneered development of automated network control solutions that deliver essential network services, including domain name resolution and IP address assignment, which are foundational to every IP-based computer network and required to connect users and devices to a network, applications and the Internet. If these services are down or compromised, the connections can grind to a halt.
Infoblox’s solutions are currently installed at many U.S. Federal government agencies. To comply with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), many Federal agencies are under mounting pressure to install added security mechanisms for their computer networks. Infoblox now offers these agencies and other customers with strict security postures, such as finance and healthcare organizations, an added level of security with built-in support for CAC and PIV smart cards that facilitate the use of PKI authentication tools and establish an authoritative process for the use of identity credentials.
Without embedded support for CAC or other smart cards, administrators of networks that require two-factor authentication must create custom scripts, resulting in costs for software development and ongoing maintenance.
