Infoblox Brings IPv6-Ready Network Infrastructure Automation and Control to Federal Government

Infoblox is helping federal governmental agencies meet the mission-critical demands for agile, resilient and predictable network services for both the Department of Defense and civilian IT installations. Infoblox ensures network availability for our customers by automating the many daily, time-consuming, pedestrian tasks that deter IT professional staff from more important, often critical functions. Our secure solutions increase efficiency through network automation combined with the control and knowledge of network change and behavior, resulting in improved overall security, service quality and network uptime.

Our certifications and support for both industry and governmental standards, plus our extensive experience with civilian, military, defense and intelligence agencies, keep our products and solutions on target with the ever-changing needs of federal network service requirements, including IT governance mandates such as DISA STIG, NSA SNAC, FISMA best practices and responses to venerability alerts such as IAVA. Through real-time network change and configuration management (NCCM) and IPv6-enabled DNS, DHCP and IP address management (collectively called DDI), our secure, high-availability, resilient appliances reduce the risk for outages and ensure the network’s uptime through everyday operation as well as during crises and emergency situations. Infoblox solutions make the network adaptable to fluctuating, risk-ridden environments so that mission-critical applications do not fail when they are needed most.

Infoblox products and solutions have been approved for use by the intelligence community, and certified at the highest levels, including:

  • JITC tested and approved
  • DADMS approved (ID #64843)
  • NetMRI, our NCCM product, has been common criteria certified
  • Infoblox is currently working with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and is in the process of certifying Trinzic Enterprise for Common Criteria EAL2 as dictated by NIAP

All our equipment is manufactured in the United States, and we support and offer secure solutions for both IPv4 and IPv6. Our DNSSEC product increases security to prevent the kinds of hacking that have compromised federal systems in recent times. Further, Infoblox solutions are currently used in every classification level in the federal government, from unclassified to SCI clearance.

The latest version of Trinzic Enterprise has support for Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for secure private key storage and generation, and zone-signing off-loading. When using a network-attached HSM, you can provide tight physical access control, allowing only selected security personnel to physically access the HSM that stores the DNSSEC keys. When this feature is enabled, the HSM performs DNSSEC zone signing, key generation, and key safe keeping.

Migration to IPv6 is a network transition facing all major organizations, including federal agencies, as the number of current public IP addresses runs out. By 2015, 17% of the Internet will be using IPv6 addresses, and government mandates already require a number of organizations to migrate to IPv6 sooner rather than later. Infoblox is eager to assist federal agencies with the deployment of IPv6 and its associated migrations. We can make the transition to IPv6 simple, safe and smooth for your IT staff.

Key benefits of Infoblox network infrastructure automation:
  • Delivers high-availability and secure infrastructure with easy to deploy, high-availability appliances

Challenges

A Strong Nation Demands Strong Networks

Federal governmental agencies face numerous, mission-critical IT challenges in the twenty-first century. Taking on the self-imposed task of reforming IT management to improve operational efficiency and execution, the federal government is focused on consolidating infrastructure and expanding automation. Key to these efforts is securely sharing services and migrating to IPv6, as well as adopting “light” technology and managing large-scale IT programs effectively. Infoblox technology meets those goals head-on and addresses government’s IT challenges with cost-effective, secure solutions that streamline operations and keep networks working.

Another primary task facing IT specialists in the federal government is aligning the acquisition and the budget processes with the technology cycle. The budgetary approval process for new IT solutions often cannot keep up with technological advances before the targeted technology can be bought. Infoblox meets that challenge by keeping its solutions constantly updated, adaptable to rising needs, and flexible to meet the ever-changing technological landscape. Choosing Infoblox as your IT partner means putting tomorrow in place today.

Facing up to the current fiscal restraints is a reality that government cannot ignore. The challenge of maintaining and improving overall service quality with limited, often shrinking, budgets and resources cannot be met with traditional, legacy and manual approaches. Instead, Infoblox offers governmental agencies alternative, cost-reducing solutions for dealing with network infrastructure and moving forward with advances in technology. By eliminating resource-consuming manual management techniques, Infoblox can typically decrease your time, your costs and the risks associated with managing IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and network change and configuration. Infoblox can be your key partner in taking strategic steps to meeting government’s IT challenges today—and tomorrow.

Overlooking the importance of automating network infrastructure services and, instead, maintaining the status quo can lead to:

  • Unnecessary risk of downtime with limited and unreliable disaster recovery options across offices, buildings or campuses
  • Exposure to penalties and sanctions for compliance standards and best practices violations
  • Burdensome requirements for local expertise and knowledge to maintain disparate assets and tools
  • Increased risk of change as more planned and unplanned modifications occur
  • New risk and high vulnerability to both internal and external attacks and threats with multiple access points
  • Disparate, inconsistent network infrastructure services with no centralized visibility and management
  • Audit exposure with limited tracking and logs for compliance requirements and/or troubleshooting needs

Solutions

Infoblox Technology Is Strategic and Secure, Allowing You to Target Your IT Reforms Safely with Laser-like Focus

Cloud projects and virtualization are the strategic winners for tomorrow that can be implemented today. These technologies can save on capital expenditures, improve security, reduce human error, and keep IT current. Cloud-based solutions allow federal agencies to share power and cut costs. Infoblox solutions can help you manage migration to cloud computing, incorporate virtualization and deploy IPv6 securely. These solutions help federal agencies streamline operations and utilize professional IT staff more efficiently, deploying them on critical projects instead of mundane tasks.

Importantly, Infoblox brings a level of security to DNS, DHCP, IP address management and Network Change and Configuration Management (NCCM). Key assets in a network are IP addresses, and managing them, especially in virtual environments, can be critical to a successful network. Poor DNS and IP address management can inflict severe harm on a network and, importantly, can lead to security breaches. Infoblox takes care of that concern by binding IP addresses to domain names. We also bring you not only DNS security technology but also a secure environment with multiple layers of access, including access for remote locations. In short, IP address management and NCCM bring an essential level of security to the naming infrastructure in federal governmental networks.

Infoblox also solves the problem of unforeseen and undiagnosed network change. We collect information intelligently by finding areas in your network that are at risk, or are potential errors that will cause an outage in the future. By identifying problems before they happen, you will be able to prevent them and the network disruptions they would have caused. We can also show you real-time network health as opposed to burning recurring hours for HIPAA, SOX, PCI or internal compliance management. For audits, a click of a button shows when changes were made and who made them. Real-time compliance means you and your staff save hours of time, freeing up critical resources for redeployment on more strategic projects.

Infoblox delivers secure solutions that ensure constant network uptime, at the primary installation and in all associated remote agency locations. With redundant Infoblox Grid&trade based technologies and hardened appliances, key network services such as DNS and DHCP are always on. Over 5,000 of the world’s largest organizations with the most complex networks—and many federal governmental agencies—have deployed Infoblox to achieve continuity and network availability—everyday and through crisis situations.
