{"id":4624,"date":"2020-02-04T12:29:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T20:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.infoblox.com\/?p=4624"},"modified":"2020-08-03T11:17:08","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T18:17:08","slug":"gartner-sase-and-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/security\/gartner-sase-and-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Gartner SASE and Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November, I <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.infoblox.com\/company\/bloxone-delivers-the-sase-future-today\/\">discussed<\/a> how Infoblox was leading the way to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/sase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SASE-centric<\/a> future with our cloud-native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/sase\/bloxone-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BloxOne<sup style=\"font-size: 50%; top: -1em;\">TM<\/sup> Platform<\/a> and initial set of network and security services: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/products\/bloxone-ddi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BloxOne<sup style=\"font-size: 50%; top: -1em;\">TM<\/sup> DDI<\/a> for core network services and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/products\/bloxone-threat-defense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BloxOne<sup style=\"font-size: 50%; top: -1em;\">TM<\/sup> Threat Defense<\/a> for DDI-based security services.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly afterwards, our vision for this edge-centric future was validated when Infoblox was recognized as one of The Software Report\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesoftwarereport.com\/the-top-25-cybersecurity-companies-of-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Top 25 Cybersecurity Companies of 2019<\/a>, in large part for the innovative way we\u2019ve used DDI services to detect, isolate, and mitigate network threats before they can cause damage.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a great accomplishment, and we\u2019re incredibly proud that our work in cybersecurity is being recognized more widely.<\/p>\n<p>But today, I want to discuss the role security plays in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/sase\/gartner-sase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gartner SASE<\/a>, and why cloud-native delivery of security services is such an important part of any SASE-based platform.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Security is an integral part of Gartner SASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/sase\/gartner-sase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gartner&#8217;s SASE<\/a> model represents the convergence of traditional WAN edge management capabilities with security into a cohesive whole, built using cloud-native principles and architectures. Based on the original research note by Gartner, any SASE-based platform must have the following attributes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cloud-native architectures with containerized microservices<\/li>\n<li>Integrated network and security services<\/li>\n<li>Cloud-managed on-demand services<\/li>\n<li>Centralized policy control<\/li>\n<li>Local survivability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The demands of a SASE-enabled network are inextricably linked to the requirements of the digital enterprise and edge computing. As organizations adopt these new deployment models, users no longer access a majority of applications and services within the enterprise data center, which is forcing companies to fundamentally change from a data-centric model to an edge-centric model. In this new paradigm, network administrators need to deliver security services and others remotely, at scale, and only where and when needed.
