If so, you now have DHCP Fingerprinting available, providing visibility to what types of devices are on your network. You can create\u00a0<em>Smart Folders<\/em>\u00a0to quickly see information about these devices. Smart Folders are an extremely powerful and flexible way to quickly gain visibility and organize IPAM data.<\/p>\n<p>To begin, after logging into the Infoblox Grid, navigate to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Smart Folders &gt; My Smart Folders<\/em>, and click\u00a0<em>Create<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Change the\u00a0<em>Name<\/em>\u00a0to \u201cMicrosoft Windows Devices\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select the search criteria:\u00a0<em>DHCP Fingerprint Class<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; equals &#8211; Windows.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Apply<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Very shortly, you should see clients populate in the Smart Folder if you have Microsoft Windows devices on your network.<\/p>\n<p>Click\u00a0<em>Save<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Now create several other Smart Folders, using the following information:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\ufffcName:\u00a0<em>Gaming Console Devices<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>DHCP Fingerprint Class<\/em>\u00a0equals\u00a0<em>Gaming Consoles<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Name:\u00a0<em>Apple Mac OS Devices<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>DHCP Fingerprint Class<\/em>\u00a0equals\u00a0<em>Macintosh<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Name:\u00a0<em>Router and Wireless Access Point Devices<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>DHCP Fingerprint Class<\/em>\u00a0equals\u00a0<em>Routers and APs<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Name:\u00a0<em>Smartphone, PDA, Tablet Devices<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>DHCP Fingerprint Class equals Smartphones\/PDAs\/Tablets<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here are two more recommended Smart Folders:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Name:\u00a0<em>Conflicts<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>Conflict<\/em>\u00a0equals\u00a0<em>Yes<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Name:\u00a0<em>Unmanaged<\/em><br \/>\nSearch criteria:\u00a0<em>Unmanaged<\/em>\u00a0equals\u00a0<em>Yes<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Conflicts<\/em>\u00a0Smart Folder will show discovered devices that do not match existing IP address data.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Unmanaged<\/em>\u00a0Smart Folder will show discovered IP addresses that do not have corresponding records on the grid (A records, PTR records, fixed addresses, host records, leases, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>When you are done, the Smart Folders should appear like this:<\/p>\n<p>New installations of NIOS 6.7 (or later) have these Smart Folders pre-configured. They are not automatically created when upgrading to NIOS 6.7, to avoid potential conflicts with existing user created Smart Folders.<\/p>\n<p>There are quite a few additional DHCP Fingerprint Smart Folders that you could create.\u00a0<em>Choose DHCP Fingerprint Class<\/em>, and examine the\u00a0<em>Choose One<\/em>\u00a0dropdown list to see all the available classes.
