Many things can go wrong, and seemingly minor typos can cause large issues. Today I\u2019ll be sharing a feature of NetMRI that focuses on automating these tasks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTemplate Variables\u201d is a feature designed to automate these actions. They can also be saved for future deployments, and we\u2019ll discuss how to leverage role-based control.<\/p>\n<p>There are many settings that must be enabled for any new device deployment. Many times these are built adhoc and manually copy and pasted. Some examples, are SNMP, NTP, DNS, Vlan, Banners, and more.<\/p>\n<p>First these actions take place under the Configuration Management pages. Note that within quotes, the variable is left blank, we\u2019ll discuss the value of this in the next section.<\/p>\n<p>Here we will define a variable for our logging servers, time and name servers IP addresses, turn off telnet, configure interface IP addresses, VPN tunnel configurations, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3473\" src=\"https:\/\/live-infoblox-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/netmri-edit-template-vendors.png\" alt=\"NetMRI Edit Template Vendors\" width=\"488\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/netmri-edit-template-vendors.png 488w, https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/netmri-edit-template-vendors-300x136.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also have a drop down called \u201cRun Level\u201d This drop down enables us to use Role based access, specifying who can make these changes to the device.<\/p>\n<p>For example the network architect can design this template, and a new hire, or tier 1 engineer could be tasked with rolling this out, without ever needing to logon to a device!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deploying new datacenters is a long and repetitive project.
