Amazon is best known for all those brown boxes that land our on doorsteps with the goodies we\u2019ve ordered online. But among technology professionals, the company is perhaps even more famous for Amazon Web Services (AWS), the market leader and world\u2019s largest public cloud. AWS now runs workloads on demand for companies of all sizes and types.<\/p>\n

AWS is so easy to procure and use that it sometimes contributes to the problem of \u201cshadow IT,\u201d where individual business groups or departments create virtual servers in Amazon\u2019s cloud without the knowledge or direct support of the IT team. While the ability to quickly create workloads is great, the lack of visibility and the sprawling pockets of cloud workloads may not be most desirable for an organization that\u2019s trying to contain costs or create efficiencies.<\/p>\n

Today, Infoblox is introducing an answer to that problem: Infoblox DDI for AWS (www.infoblox.com\/aws<\/a>). This new offering extends the industry-leading Infoblox solution for DNS, DHCP and IP address management (DDI) into AWS, bringing many benefits to those who are looking to use AWS alongside their on-prem infrastructure.<\/p>\n

First, Infoblox DDI for AWS delivers the great user experience our customers already enjoy in their traditional on-premise networks and their private cloud deployments. These features include automated provisioning of IP addresses and DNS records to increase agility when adding network infrastructure, as well as uniform policies for assigning IP addresses and DNS records to reduce configuration errors and outages \u2013 all from a single point of control that can span multiple locations and platforms. Also, when workloads are decommissioned, IP addresses and DNS records are automatically reclaimed for future use.<\/p>\n

Second, and just as important, is that networking teams, by virtue of Infoblox\u2019s discovery capabilities, now have unprecedented visibility into workload deployments. This means they can see virtual instances, networks and subnets as they are created and removed. That\u2019s a big deal, because, with enhanced visibility, they can help their departments and business unit counterparts make smarter business decisions.<\/p>\n
