DNS DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks are designed to bring down DNS servers and consume network resources, interfering with or even shutting down critical IT applications such as email, web sites, and software as a service (SaaS). These attacks are not only increasing in frequency, but are constantly evolving.<\/p>\n<p>You might have heard of DNS amplification and flood attacks, but have you heard of phantom domain attacks? Random subdomain attacks? Domain lock-up attacks? These are newer, sophisticated and stealthier attacks, and we at Infoblox have seen more of them in our customer environments recently.
