Blockbuster by contrast failed to see the changing needs of consumers and didn\u2019t adapt quickly.\u00a0 Ten years after the arrival of Netflix, Blockbuster had 1.1 billion dollars in losses.\u00a0 Subscriptions are prevalent across the IT products industry. \u00a0Adobe, Amazon, Salesforce, Cisco and Microsoft among others offer subscriptions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1033\" src=\"https:\/\/live-infoblox-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-1.png\" alt=\"Subscriptions Are All Around Us\" width=\"600\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-1-300x214.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For customers, a non-subscription IT product purchase is typically depreciated over five to seven years and upgrading sooner is usually discouraged by their finance department.\u00a0 Purchasing new IT products and upgrading them in three to five years can be financially daunting.\u00a0 Buying subscriptions helps deal with the mismatch between technology and financial cycles.\u00a0 This keeps the customer\u2019s finance department happy and helps the customer maintain control over their IT products and better meet their business demands.<\/p>\n<p>From a vendor standpoint, subscriptions make sense.\u00a0 The Challenger Sale model as described by Gartner shows that 53% of customer loyalty is driven by the sales experience, more than by the brand, product, service and price combined.\u00a0 Customer loyalty is attributed mostly to HOW a vendor sells and not WHAT they sell.\u00a0 Subscription selling enhances customer interest in all aspects of selling and helps vendors build a tighter relationship with the customer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1034\" src=\"https:\/\/live-infoblox-blog.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-2.png\" alt=\"Infoblox offers a subscription that includes use of software\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-2.png 600w, https:\/\/www.infoblox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Subscription-blog-2-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Infoblox offers a subscription that includes use of software, and access to customer care and services for the subscription period.\u00a0 It does not include hardware &amp; hardware maintenance which needs to be purchased separately.
