Virtualization and the Future of the Network
Wednesday, September 23

Nemertes gathers executives from Cisco, VMware and Infoblox to talk about the impact of virtualization on the network.  Virtualization has kicked off an incredible level of interest in production data centers, with promises of increased flexibility, power savings and the advent of cloud computing in the enterprise.  Yet most network pros have not been involved in the proliferation of virtualization and don’t fully grasp the network opportunity for unleashing the power of virtualization.  There has even been some speculation that virtualization means the end of careers in networking.  Network pros need to understand the dynamics of virtualization and the critical importance of the network.

The most significant payoffs enabled by virtualization have little to do with larger, denser VLANS, but rather with multi-site elasticity, where VMs can move dynamically to take advantage of changes in costs, performance and user demands.  Yet multi-site elasticity (also called the intercloud) requires new thinking and capabilities in the network.  We call this necessary evolution of the network infrastructure 2.0 or dynamic infrastructure.

How can your networks evolve to support infrastructure 2.0?  What are the costs and benefits?  What are the noteworthy issues and constrains?

Nemertes has recruited a panel of experts to help attendees quickly come up to speed on what is perhaps the most significant wave of innovation in the network since the introduction of TCP/IP.  Attendees will come away with critical insight and background to support network planning as enterprises adopt virtualization and private cloud as well as to specific suggestions from leading experts.
